Solar ROI Calculator
Solar is an investment decision, and the number that matters most is how quickly the system pays for itself at your actual tariff. This calculator combines capacity, tariff and indicative Gujarat generation to give you a planning-level payback period.
Indicative return on investment
Approximate payback period
4.1 years
Estimated annual saving
₹56,000
Net investment after subsidy
₹2,32,000
Indicative 25-year ROI
~461%
Assumes about 7,000 units generated per year (~1400 units per kW for Gujarat) and a conservative allowance for panel degradation over 25 years. A central subsidy of ₹78,000 has been applied.
What this calculator assumes
Payback depends on your tariff, not on panel brand
A commercial consumer paying ₹9.5 per unit reaches payback faster than a residential consumer on a subsidised slab, even with the same plant. We always start from your last twelve bills before discussing capacity.
Generation assumptions used
Gujarat typically delivers around 1,400 units per kW per year for a well-oriented, shadow-free rooftop. Shading, dust, tilt and inverter sizing move this figure, which is why an on-site assessment refines the estimate.
Self-consumption versus export
Units consumed directly offset your full tariff. Exported units are credited at your DISCOM's net metering terms. Plants sized close to day-time load usually return better than oversized plants that export heavily.
Costs to keep in the model
Include periodic cleaning, occasional inverter service and any AMC in your long-term view. These are small relative to savings but should not be assumed to be zero.
